I am extremely pleased to see that you're writing a blog. Of course I look forward to hearing about your new books and upcoming work, but I also hope that you use this as an opportunity to discuss your broad pop culture interests. That lengthy interview you did with the Comics Journal has always an inspiration. I re-read it regularly. So please, let us know what movies you're watching and what old books you're reading.
Hello, Mr. Sala. I've been a fan of your art for years, and as soon as I found out you were blogging I gave you a plug on my site, monstersandrockets.com.
Thank you all for the kind words -- I appreciate it!
Bhob -- Actually I trace my cat burglar obsession (as well as many of my other obsessions) back to the pages of your former (and much beloved by me) magazine CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN -- specifically to the issue (#9) that had an article on Franju's JUDEX with a photo of Francine Berge in her black cat burglar get-up. When I finally saw the film, it became one of my favorites of all-time. So -- Thanks, Bhob!
Richard Sala grew up with a fascination for musty old museums, dusty old libraries, cluttered antique shops, narrow alleyways, hidden truths, double meanings, sinister secrets and spooky old houses. He has written and drawn a number of unusual graphic novels and has provided illustrations for a variety of clients all over the world.
His books include THE HIDDEN, DELPHINE, CAT BURGLAR BLACK, THE BLOODY CARDINAL, VIOLENT GIRLS, VIOLENZIA and Other Deadly Amusements, IN A GLASS GROTESQUELY, PECULIA, MAD NIGHT, THE CHUCKLING WHATSIT, THE GRAVE ROBBER'S DAUGHTER, HYPNOTIC TALES and several more.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a blog where I just share images and things I like. I've transferred most of these over from years of posts on Facebook where I also wrote a little bit about each post. I hope to find time to add those descriptions later on, but for now I'm just posting images. To see my art you can look for me on Instagram or Twitter or Facebook or my other blog HERE LIES RICHARD SALA or my tumbler:

ReplyDeleteSort of reminds me of Maggie Cheung in IRMA VEP (1996).
